At Gonzalez Painters and Contractors, we know a thing or two about big trucks, hardworking crews, and the joy of building something meaningful. That’s why we were thrilled to sponsor one of the Triangle’s most beloved family events: the 17th Annual Touch A Truck, benefiting UNC Children’s Hospital and Boy Scout Troop 39.

A Family Event That Gave Back

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Friday Center Park & Ride Lots in Chapel Hill transformed into a wonderland of wheels, horns, and horsepower. Families explored over 40 vehicles, including fire engines, bulldozers, motorcycles, buses, and classic cars — all while supporting the lifesaving work of UNC Children’s Hospital and providing scholarships and program funding for BSA Troop 39.

For just $6 per person (with a family cap of $24, and free admission for little ones under two), families got the thrill of sitting in the driver’s seat, exploring up close, and meeting the people behind the wheel.

At Gonzalez Painters and Contractors, we work alongside essential workers every day and see the value of their expertise, commitment, and community impact. Supporting Touch A Truck was our way of honoring these workers and giving local families a chance to celebrate them too.

We were especially proud to help spotlight the construction trucks and crews that represent the heart of our business. For the kids (and plenty of grownups!), it was a rare treat to climb aboard the machines they usually only see from the sidewalk.

The event delivered an impressive lineup — emergency vehicles, military trucks, sleek motorcycles, food trucks, and more. Kids and families enjoyed the walk-through format, met essential workers, grabbed tasty bites, and made unforgettable memories — all while supporting two outstanding causes.
